Dorothy Circus Gallery is a space dedicated to Pop Surrealism and new tendencies of figurative arts. Opened in Rome in 2007, the gallery was born on the boundaries between New York and Wonderland, and has the merit of having brought for the first time on scenes of Italian contemporary art artists such as Jonathan
Viener, Ron English, Sas and Colin Christian, Camille Rose Garcia, Alex Gross, Joe Sorren, Tara Mc Pherson, James Jean, Travis Louie and many others.
In its new venue at the historical centre of Rome the Gallery raises the curtain again on a prestigious programme dedicated to Pop Surrealism. It is also thanks to its wonderful location in the heart of Rome that D.C.G. confirms itself as an ideal location to host the surreal mood of this seductive artistic current. While keeping the charming style of its “First Circus”, the gallery also adds a touch of luxury with the bookshop decorated in white velvets and dedicated to the artists monographs, offering an exclusive display of limited edition prints and rare art toys, creating an exhibition hall which reminds of the settings of Tim Burton’s Alice. Now, only four years after its opening, Dorothy Circus Gallery is a leading European centre for Pop Surrealism. It was recently selected by Juxtapoz magazine as one of the 100 world’s most important galleries and best museums. It has also worked in collaboration with the world’s most popular galleries for this artistic current, like the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York, and the Roq la Rue in Seattle.
Recently, it has taken care of an exhibition dedicated to Pop Surrealism
at the Carandente Museum in Spoleto, under the request of the councillor Vincenzo Cerami, for the “Two Worlds Festival”.
Thanks to its international fame, Dorothy Circus Gallery seeks to promote new Italian talents of Pop Surrealism, as Nicoletta Ceccoli.
It has also published many catalogues of its shows: some of them are edited by Drago Publishing and sold all over the world. The Gallery’s core concept is to propose events based on specific themes,
but seen in a broader perspective involving literature, music and costume.

Pur mantenendo lo stile magico del suo “Primo Circo” aggiunge ancora un tocco di lusso, vestendo di velluti bianchi l’Art Bookshop, dedicato a tutte le monografie sugli artisti esposti, reso unico dalla selezione di stampe limited edition e dei più rari Art Toys d’autore, creando per la sala espositiva una scenografia che ricorda l’ Alice di Tim Burton.
La Dorothy Circus Gallery a soli quattro anni dalla sua apertura è la galleria d’arte di riferimento per il Pop Surrealismo in Europa. E’ entrata tra le 100 gallerie e musei più importanti del mondo nella classifica della rivista americana Juxtapoz e vanta numerose collaborazioni con le più  rinomate gallerie internazionali del settore, tra cui la Jonathan LeVine Gallery di NY e la Roq La Rue di Seattle.
Ha recentemente curato una mostra antologica sul Pop Surrealismo che è stata esposta al Museo Carandente-Palazzo Collicola di Spoleto, voluta dall’assessore Vincenzo Cerami per il Festival dei Due Mondi.
Godendo di fama e stima a livello internazionale, la Dorothy Circus Gallery è impegnata oltre che nel portare in Italia gli artisti più famosi della scena Pop Surrealista, anche nella promozione di nuovi talenti della pittura contemporanea italiana ed europea, lanciando artisti come Nicoletta Ceccoli sul mercato d’oltreoceano.
Ha pubblicato numerosi cataloghi delle mostre proposte, alcuni dei quali editi dalla casa editrice Drago publishing e presenti in tutto il mondo nelle librerie e nei musei.
Il concept curatoriale della galleria è proporre eventi espositivi  dedicati a temi specifici, aprendo l’orizzonte oltre la dimensione esclusivamente pittorica e coinvolgendo l’arte nei suoi molteplici aspetti in un confronto tra musica, letteratura e costume.
Il tema viene approfondito oltre che dalla  creazione di opere inedite, composte appositamente, dalla stesura di testi critici e dalla ricerca di un allestimento scenografico e una degustazione sensoriale creati ad hoc.
L’unicità di questi eventi fa sì che alla galleria sia rivolta l’attenzione di stampa e televisione e di numerosi appassionati che vengono espressamente anche dall’estero.
