VICTOR CASTILLO Chile / Spain, b. 1973

Through the years, Victor has worked on building his own word and imaginary, creating, in accordance with his hybrid way of life, a hybrid style and technique. He taps from the streams of our childhood memories, that he reclaims and re-elaborates in dystopian and far from innocent and childlike images. The painting technique is at the same time made of soft brushstrokes and acid colors, that all together work to convey a feeling of dream-like uneasiness.

Victor’s first critical success was in 2007 when the national newspaper El País published a full-page article about his tragicomic vision titled ‘The Triumph of Pop Surrealism’. Victor’s first solo exhibition in the United States was in Seattle the following year, and in 2010 Victor moved to Los Angeles, California, where he currently lives and works.
