Provenance

“My paintings form an ongoing mythic narrative that follows

a group of beings known as Border Creatures. The two

characters in this work are Painter, who is an artist and a

dreamer, and Healer, the leader of the Border Creatures.

Previously in my mythology, Painter developed an

obsession with finding a world beyond the Borderlands,

the wilderness that the Border Creatures

call home. This search led to the invasion

of the Borderlands by deadly spectral beings.

In this work, Painter kneels in contrition before Healer.

With the simple gesture of resting her hand

on Painter’s head, Healer absolves Painter of past

sins. In this painting, I wanted to create a narrative

of redemption and the power of familial love.”
