In Living with Nature, the centerpiece of the show, Ai Haibara offers a contemplativecelebration of humanity’s delicate relationship with the natural world, infused with aprofound hope for the future. Through her masterful fusion of traditional craftsmanshipand subtle modern detailing, Haibara sculpts a figure who seems both grounded andtranscendent—a quiet emblem of coexistence and renewal. The figure, carved with gracefulprecision, stands enveloped by sweeping forms of leaves and bushes, blurring theboundaries between human and environment.Haibara’s nuanced use of muted earth tones, accented by soft greens and warm browns, evokes the quiet palette of a forest floor at dawn, reinforcing the theme of harmonious livingwithin nature’s embrace.

The figure’s posture is relaxed yet purposeful, suggesting a mindfulpresence that honors the rhythms of the natural world. At the heart of Living with Nature is Haibara’s hopeful vision—that we can create a societythat cherishes nature, nurtures it rather than destroys it, and ultimately coexists with it. Thishope permeates the work, transforming it from a mere representation into a poeticmeditation on balance, stewardship, and renewal.

The figure’s serene expression, neitherovertly joyful nor sorrowful, invites viewers into a reflective space where humanvulnerability and strength coexist with the environment’s enduring cycles. The organicshapes that frame and almost cradle the figure hint at protection and unity, symbolizing afragile yet vital bond. This work does not narrate a story with words but instead speaks through form and texture, encouraging multiple interpretations—from a call to ecological awareness to a personaljourney of reconnecting with the earth. In this way, Ai Haibara’s sculpture stands as a quiet, powerful testament to living not against nature, but within it—filled with the hope that abetter, more caring coexistence is possible.
