As autumn casts its golden veil, November will see Dorothy Circus Gallery collaborate with the Philippine Embassy in Rome for a vibrant group exhibition celebrating the diverse visual languages of contemporary Filipino art. Featuring BlicMister Sasquatch, and Rene Cuvos, the show brings together three distinct voices whose work converge in their capacity to reimagine the world around them.

Here, the street meets the dreamscape, the fantastical meets the symbolic, and personal history is refracted into shared cultural narratives. Together, these artists explore themes of identity, heritage and resistance—offering a kaleidoscopic vision of cultural transformation where tradition dances with reinvention.

Mister Sasquatch builds fantastical universes inhabited by wide-eyed travellers and larger-than-life companions. With a background in video and film, his work carries a cinematic sense of adventure and narrative depth. Each painting is a portal, inviting the viewer into an ongoing journey through imagined lands. His playful yet technically precise works have drawn a devoted following in the Philippines and abroad, reflecting both a love of storytelling and a belief in the magic of invention.

Blic, a self-taught street artist from Cavite, has built an instantly recognisable visual language centred on a personified human hand crowned with a Smile Emoji. Emerging from the walls of his hometown and the “Kawaii” pop movement, this symbol has travelled far beyond the Philippines, appearing in exhibitions across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. For Blic, the hand is more than a motif—it is a universal gesture of communication and connection, born from a desire to claim space and make his voice heard. As a founding member of the Cavity Collective, he continues to champion the colour, creativity, and community of the street.

Rene Cuvos works in the liminal space between waking life and dreams, conjuring landscapes where the boundaries of reality dissolve. Guided by the conviction that dreams are both refuge and realm of agency, he creates scenes that balance chaos with hope, offering viewers a sanctuary from the unpredictable tides of life.

Through masterful technique and a composition inspired by the Renaissance, he transforms fleeting imaginings into tangible worlds, where the impossible becomes possible, and the horizon is always within reach.

Set within the historic heart of Rome, this exhibition is a dialogue between two cultures, a celebration of the Philippines’ boundless creativity, and an invitation to step into worlds where imagination, memory, and meaning converge.
