Cosmic seed, 2016–2025
Cosmic seed marks one of Sashie’s most metaphysical constructions. Unlike his other spheres—which hover independently above wastelands—this orb sprouts a complex tangle of roots or cables, transforming the structure into a living technological organism. The sphere appears both organic and mechanical, a planetary seedpod gestating in a strange, post-human landscape.
Here the architecture of the city merges with the morphology of nature: vents resemble petals, windows become cells, and industrial grids mimic the patterning of biological growth. The connecting tendrils suggest the possibility of nourishment or extraction, hinting at the dual role of technology as both life-giving and parasitic.
This decade-long work embodies Sashie’s central question: What does the future grow from when the earth’s original seeds are gone?
The answer, in his vision, is a hybrid species — a techno-organic vessel carrying the remnants of human culture into an uncertain cosmic future. Both dystopian and hopeful, Cosmic seed imagines a world where ruins learn to regenerate.
