In Daniel B Dias’ “Fine Dining (Tetradic)”, four people gather around a table to share a meal as one. Dias shows how they are interconnected, each attached to the other by a string, their meal. Some parts are tied into knots, showing the entanglement of connection, but all come from a source, in this case the meal they share. A “Tetradic” is a group of four complementary colors that form their own shape, typically a rectangle. Each person is their own distinct individual, but a piece of themselves is still connected to those around them. In a modern world of instant gratification and social media we struggle to create unique identities and genuine connections, but with this piece Dias demonstrates that these bonds are inevitable, that we can find people in our lives that complement each other.
