ORIZA L. LEGRAND

Dorothy Circus Gallery is very proud to collaborate with one of the oldest Maisons de Parfum in the world and to offer these precious fragrances in its London and Rome Six Senses corners. 

Since 1720, Oriza L. Legrand has indeed perfumed the crowned heads of France, England, Italy or Russia, and is happy to keep on perpetuating the tradition until today. During the reign of King Louis XV, a Frenchman called Fargeon the Elder created the Maison Oriza, which quickly became an official Purveyor to the Court of France - know across Europe as “The Perfumed Court”… Queen Marie-Antoinette, Emperor Napoleon 1st and Empress Josephine were also know to be fervent users of these refined smells.

The name Oriza refers to the creams and powders made from the Oriza Sativa, a variety of rice cultivated at the time by Fargeon the Elder. A century later, Mr Louis Legrand takes over the business and settles the newly named Parfumerie Oriza L. Legrand at 207 rue Saint-Honoré in the chic neighbourhood of Paris.
