“Luperca represents the instinct of protection and love

we have towards other beings beyond the bloodline.

Although this painting represents motherhood via blood,

the name refers to motherhood by adoption, since

Luperca is the name of the wolf that according to Roman

mythology nursed Romulus and Remus, founders

of Rome, when they were sent to kill by King Amulio

She was my inspiration and the starting point for

this painting. The scene between mother and son unfolds

in the desert illuminated by a large full moon,

in a shamanic environment and, of cosmic connection

The primitive peoples celebrate rites of sexual

initiation and fertility under the full moon.

The strawberries symbolize sensuality and fertilty. The

stones forming a hexagon around the plant symbolize

the creation

The dead bird refers to the cycle of life and the stone

floating above refers to the anima of being,

The Mother holding a handful of ginkgo: The

Ginkgo was the only survivor after the catastrophe

produced by the atomic bomb in the Japanese

city of Hiroshima, and since then it is considered

a carrier of hope, symbol of life and renewal.

In the Lupercales parties, teenagers transitioning

to their adulthood survived hunting and loitering

in the forest. It was then a sacred and transient

time in which they behaved like human wolves.”
