ZED1: Spray 4 Your Rights : Mercato Orazio dello Sbirro, Ostia | Focus Show

Zed 1, pseudonym of Marco Burresi, is a street artist from Certaldo, in the province of Florence. He graduated from the Istituto di Grafica Pubblicitaria “Tornabuoni” and has been part of the international Street Art scene since a long time. He has just realized interventions in New York and Miami, on the occasion of Art Basel MIAMI fair. His works are characterized by a unique and personal style, the accuracy of details, and the easily recognizable characters who aim more and more at engaging in social themes. Another prerogative of ZED1’s art is the inclusive and direct relationship established with his public. Explicative of this feature are his works from the “Seconda Pelle” project: the artist paints a mural and then covers it with a thin layer of paper, on which a second skin indeed is represented. This paper, with the usury of time and the curiosity of passers-by, who tear off pieces of it, eventually reveals the original painted mural. For STEP 4 of the Spray for Your Rights project, ZED1 chose the theme of immigration, which he already dealt with in various canvases that pictured a surrealistic and poetic personal interpretation of travel and hope. Step 4 of Spray for you rights, represented by the mural “Integrazione”, wants to focus on that feeling of solidarity that can be born from the active phenomenon of immigration and from a subsequent extraordinary result of social integration. This integration represents the cause not only of many socio-political conflicts, but also of the development of a basis for renovation and cultural expansion meant for everybody, for it includes all the daily and commercial activities that are part of our urban reality. With this work, “L’equilibrio”, the artist investigates this delicate issue with a personal and poetic surreal interpretation of the travel of hope and the landing on our land.
