Biography

Born in 1988, Moe Nakamura earned her MFA from Joshibi University of Art and Design in 2012, and currently resides in Tokyo where she works as a sculptor. The artist's research is dedicated to the creation of original hand-carved creatures, each sculpted from a single block of wood. Nakamura's sculptures depict the faces of often masked children merging with nature, sometimes emerging from trees, other times sprouting from flowers or fruits, and they have the ability to evoke the spirit of the magical and sacred, embodying innocence and serenity. Nakamura's sculptures, both adorable and mysterious, have a profoundly expressive quality, meticulously carved and painted with a soft and natural palette. They reach enormous dimensions, echoing the grandeur of Japanese trees and the magnificence of the forest spirit from which they originate. Nakamura's art narrates the poetry and spirituality of the elements, in a timeless fable that reflects the history and future of Japan. Since 2010, Nakamura has exhibited at the Taipei World Trade Center and repeatedly at the Tokyo Art Museum. She showcases her work in international galleries and is recognized as one of the most important artists in the artistic panorama of Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and numerous other regions in Asia.

Emanate

Emanate by Moe Nakamura continues the artist’s exploration of the spiritual and emotional relationship between the human body and organic transformation, presenting a sculptural form that appears both deeply intimate and symbolically transcendent.

Nata nel 1988, Moe Nakamura ha conseguito un MFA presso la Joshibi University of Art and Design nel 2012, e vive a Tokyo dove lavora come scultrice. L'artista dedica la sua ricerca alla creazione di originali creature scolpite a mano, ciascuna ricavata da un unico blocco di legno. Le sculture di Nakamura, raffigurano volti di bambini spesso mascherati che si fondono con la natura, talvolta emergono dagli alberi altre volte spuntano fuori da fiori o frutti e sono in grado di evocare lo spirito del magico del sacro ed incarnare innocenza e serenità. Adorabili e misteriose le sculture di Nakamura hanno una resa espressiva sconvolgente, meticolosamente intagliate e dipinte con una palette soffice e naturale, raggiungono enormi dimensioni, rimandando all’imponenza degli alberi giapponesi e alla magnificenza dello spirito della foresta da cui provengono. L’arte di Nakamura racconta la poesia e la spiritualità degli elementi, in una fiaba senza tempo che rispecchia la storia e il futuro del Giappone.
