KWON KYUNGYUP Korean, b. 1975

Born in Seoul in 1975, Louise Kwon (Kwon Kyungy-up) is a young Korean painter who, after earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Painting at Sejong University in Seoul, received great recognition from international collectors and the contemporary art market.

In her big canvases, softly painted, the artist explores the duality between sexuality and emotional resilience, unveiling the feelings of a delicate yet inaccessible intimacy. Through her female subjects wrapped in white bandages, her canvases tell the emotional wounds that the body suffers in modern society.

Her work has been displayed in galleries from across the globe, from her home country to Germany, the Netherlands and the United States, as well as published in several art magazines. She has been exhibiting with DCG since 2013.
