Awakening Connections: A Journey into the Bonds That Art Creates—Between People, Eras, and Ideas

The number 25 carries a powerful duality, combining the harmony and partnership of 2 with the dynamic spirit of change and exploration represented by 5. Together, they converge into a theme of transformation and discovery, as the sum of 25, the number 7, guides us toward introspection, spiritual growth, and the search for deeper truths.

DCG Contemporary’s 2025 program “Awakening Connections” has reflected this blend of energies, inviting a journey that explores the intricate relationships between people, eras, and ideas. It celebrates art’s ability to connect individuals, bridge time, and ignite new perspectives—fostering a collective awakening to the bonds that define us.

This year began with a luminous start in Los Angeles, as we proudly collaborated with Thinkspace to showcase an incredible solo exhibition, ‘Per Aspera ad Astra’, by our represented master Joe Sorren. His dreamlike narratives unfolded against celestial backdrops, contemplating destiny, memory, and emotion.

In parallel, we unveiled “Loud Silence”, a DCG-curated group show at Thinkspace, featuring Paolo Pedroni, Mattia Barbalaco, Yokoteen, Giulio Secondo, Kanako Ozawa and others—each artist amplifying intimate truths through vibrant and defiant expression.

February brought “Elements of the Anthropocene: Rebirth and Decay” to DCG London, gathering voices from across the globe—Marie-Chloé Duval, Pat Perry, Pixel Pancho, Bui Tien, Rene Cuvos, and JooLee Kang—in a meditation on the fragile cycles of nature and humanity’s place within them.

March saw Rome and London unite in a celebration of sculptural language with works by Kanako Ozawa, Lei Xiaohan, and Ai Haibara. This tribute to form and material honoured the tactile beauty of storytelling through three-dimensional presence.

With spring’s arrival, we proudly presented the historic European debut of Shamsia Hassani. Her monumental canvases, bursting with resilience and grace, brought forth the silent voices of Afghan women, declaring transformation through colour, courage, and artistic rebellion.

In June, DCG Rome unveiled “Masquerade – Pietà,” a haunting solo exhibition by Lee Gihun, marking his Italian debut. Known for his surreal urban dreamscapes, Gihun presented a striking new series that reimagines the Pietà through the masked faces of children—symbolic figures navigating fragile, post-industrial worlds. Combining oil pastel, silk wallpaper, and recycled materials, his works offered a poignant meditation on innocence, loss, and the ecological anxieties of our time.

Simultaneously, DCG London hosted a poetic double solo exhibition by Flávia Itiberê and Rafael Silveira, life partners whose practices intertwine in a rich dialogue of emotional depth. While Itiberê’s hand-stitched textile works traced the tender terrain of memory and femininity, Silveira’s surrealist canvases layered pop iconography with lush, dreamlike narratives. Together, their visions conjured a shared inner landscape—one where personal history becomes a fantastical, contemplative realm.

Following the energy of renewal and connection, we now look ahead to the paths unfolding this summer and beyond.

FLOG: A WINDOW ON THE WORLD

10 OCTOBER 2025

DCG London is proud to present the debut UK solo show of French artist Flog, whose emotionally charged work has captivated collectors across Europe, the U.S., and Asia. With his iconic “Human of Glass” series, Flog explores the delicate tension between vulnerability and resilience, shaping a universe where pop culture, childhood reverie, and dreamlike narratives converge. Using spray paint, acrylic, and oil, he breathes life into translucent figures—each a vessel of memory and emotion. At once romantic, surreal, and quietly unsettling, Flog’s work invites deeply personal interpretations. This exhibition marks an exciting new chapter in his journey and offers London audiences a rare window into his evolving poetic universe.

VOICES ACROSS THE SEA. A LUMINOUS JOURNEY OF FILIPINO CONTEMPORARY ART FOR ART TREK 2025

8 NOVEMBER 2025

As autumn casts its golden veil, November will see DCG collaborate with the Philippine Embassy in Rome for a radiant group exhibition celebrating the diverse visual languages of contemporary Filipino art. Featuring powerful voices such as Blic, Mister Sasquatch, and Rene Cuvos, alongside more talents to be announced, the show explores themes of identity, heritage, humour, and resistance. CLEMENTINE DE CHABANEIX

6 NOVEMBER 2025

In November, Dorothy Circus Gallery London is honoured to host a solo exhibition by Clémentine de Chabaneix, whose delicate and visionary sculptures inhabit a realm suspended between myth and reverie. A granddaughter of the legendary Les Lalannes, de Chabaneix fuses ceramic, painting, and engraving into poetic figurations—hybrid beings that echo with emotion and memory. Her work, rooted in storytelling and fine craftsmanship, invites the viewer into a world where innocence meets introspection, and nature merges with the fantastical. This deeply contemplative journey opens a space for reflection, imagination, and wonder.

MASAKATSU SASHIE AND CHARLES LEVALET

20 NOVEMBER 2025

Also this autumn, Dorothy Circus Gallery presents a captivating dual exhibition by Masakatsu Sashie and Charles Levalet, two acclaimed artists who transform urban life into visual allegory. Returning to Italy, Sashie unveils intricate oil paintings of floating industrial spheres—suspended worlds above dystopian terrain that speak to consumerism, nostalgia, and the poetry of decay. Meanwhile, Levalet brings his theatrical street interventions into the gallery, populating the space with life-sized ink characters that blur absurdity and social critique. Together, they reveal beauty in overlooked places, inviting us to reimagine the edges of reality.

OLGA ESTHER

4 DECEMBER 2025

We will close 2025 with the haunting and defiant universe of Olga Esther, whose December solo show offers a powerful feminist mythology. Working in oil, ceramic, and digital media, Olga reclaims the imagery of fairy tales to explore themes of gender, power, and vulnerability. Her crowned girls—wide-eyed and contemplative—stand in quiet opposition to patriarchal archetypes, embodying softness as resistance. Rich in symbolism and emotion, her work gives voice to the unheard and tenderness to the radical, concluding the year with a deeply resonant call to compassion and inner strength.
