FLOG France

Born in Cholet (France) in 1984, Florian alias Flog discovered a passion for drawing from an early age, so it was only natural that he began studying graphic design at the Pivaut Nantes school and made it his profession.

From illustration to the publishing world, he has always found his balance with the production of works regardless of the medium. Inspired by graffiti and pop culture, his mixed technique, spray paint, acrylic and oil on canvas, reveals a precision in the gesture and in the details.

With the creation of his "Human of Glass" in 2020 came recognition from collectors and galleries over the world and since has been met with an ever growing demand. Over time what started as his character on a grey background has now evolved to a rich and expending universe more colorful than ever. With many references to childhood, pop culture, the work of Flog leaves the viewer a great freedom of interpretation and ability to identify to his character.

The « Human of Glass » is a symbol of the very fragile nature of Man, both physical and emotional. Just like glass we can all break at some point in life. At the same time we are all filled with emotions, knowledge, experiences, memories… represented in Flog’s work by the colorful waves inside of his character.

By placing his character in various situation and poses, Flog creates his own artistic universe, subtle, romantic, dreamlike, sarcastic sometimes even disturbing. The context of the scene is just as important as the subject represented. It is then up to the viewer, according to his sensibilities, to recreate this story that needs no words.

Flog has had the privilege to showcase his work in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, developing an international base of collectors. This new collaboration with Dorothy Circus Gallery will be his first solo show ever in the U.K.
