“In my works, I use a Japanese type of painting known as nihonga, obtained by crushing mineral pigments mixed with a natural liquid adhesive and creating outlines with Sumi ink on top of Japanese paper. Although my work is classified as traditional Japanese painting, I'm looking for a new Japanese style that combines the traditional technique with an original one. To create depictions, I use local media, like powders of natural minerals and soil such as ink, clay, and rock paint. These elements are then combined to animal glue and a specific mixture of glue. After modeling the paste, I incorporate the beauty of contingency, mixing irregularities and particles of mineral pigments. The support is given by a recently developed paint cloth made by pasting paper on the backside of a polyester woven cloth, like silk.”
